Sunday October 6

Today's destination is Utah. We are supposed to be heading to Zion National Park but it is closed along with all of the other National Park Facilities. We were able to find a nearby State Park that looks interesting so we have adjusted our plans and are heading to St George Utah today. I have renamed the blog to reflect unavailability of National Parks.

We had a nice breakfast with Brian and Linda and packed up the car and were on the road by about 11:00 am. The fastest route to St George took us west and then north. The first interesting town we encountered was Nothing AZ. Really!!!!

We continued on toward Las Vegas. The terrain became more interesting as we neared Lake Meade and the Hoover Dam.

This is an overpass built specifically for Big Horn Sheep.

We entered Nevada as we crossed the new bridge at the Hoover Dam.

This was as close as we got to "the Strip" at Vegas.

The highway followed the Virgin River in Nevada. Chris snapped a few photos of the landscape.

We re-entered Arizona and travelled through some canyons.

Soon after, we were in Utah and at our hotel in St George.

The city was quite busy hosting the World's Senior Games. Still deciding which sports to enter....
